Job Summary: Mechanical Piping Engineer / Supervisor GRE GRVE

The GROVE (Glass Reinforced Vinyl Ester) / GRE (Glass Reinforced Epoxy) Piping Supervisor will oversee and manage the installation, testing, and commissioning of GRVE/GRE piping systems in a water treatment plant. The role requires strong technical knowledge of composite piping materials, excellent project management skills, and the ability to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Execution:

Supervise the installation and alignment of GRVE/GRE piping systems according to engineering drawings, isometrics, and specifications.

Monitor daily construction activities, ensuring alignment with project schedules and milestones.

Ensure adherence to quality control standards and project requirements.

Team Management:

Direct and manage a team of technicians, welders, and pipefitters.

Provide on-the-job training and guidance to team members on handling GRVE/GRE piping.

Coordinate with other supervisors and departments for efficient resource allocation.

Quality Assurance:

Inspect and verify that all materials and equipment conform to the approved standards and specifications.

Conduct visual inspections and hydrotesting/pressure testing of pipes to ensure proper installation.

Prepare and maintain quality assurance/quality control documentation.

Safety and Compliance:

Enforce strict compliance with workplace safety guidelines and standards.

Ensure that all piping activities adhere to environmental regulations and best practices.

Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments before initiating tasks.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain daily work logs, progress reports, and material consumption records.

Identify potential issues and escalate them to the Project Manager or relevant authorities.

Assist in preparing and submitting completion certificates and test packages.

Coordination:

Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and vendors for seamless integration of piping systems.

Review and interpret technical documents, including piping layouts, P&IDs, and material specifications.

Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the timely availability of materials and tools.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education and Experience:

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 10 Plus years of experience in GROVE/GRE piping supervision, preferably in water treatment plants or similar industries.

Technical Expertise:

Proficiency in handling GROVE/GRE piping materials and understanding their applications.

Familiarity with international standards such as ASTM, ASME, and ISO.

Knowledge of pipe fabrication, spool fitting, and pressure testing.

Skills:

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Competence in problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.

Certifications:

Certification in piping engineering or a related discipline is an advantage.

Safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are preferred.

Working Conditions:

Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and loud environments.

On-site presence is mandatory, and the role may require extended hours to meet deadlines.

Compliance with safety and PPE requirements is essential.

Job Summary: Mechanical QC Inspector Piping, Welding & NDT

The Mechanical QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all piping, welding, and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) activities in the water treatment plant project comply with established standards, codes, and specifications. The role involves close inspection, documentation, and reporting to ensure the quality and safety of the mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection and Testing:

Inspect piping installations, welds, and materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering drawings, and applicable codes.

Supervise and verify welding processes, including pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections.

Monitor and evaluate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities, including RT, UT, MT, and PT, ensuring proper execution and interpretation.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

Review and ensure adherence to international standards such as ASME, API, AWS, and ISO.

Verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs), weld maps, and pipe spool fabrication records.

Conduct hydrostatic, pneumatic, and leak testing of piping systems as required.

Documentation:

Maintain and update inspection records, weld logs, NDT reports, and test documentation.

Prepare and submit quality reports, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and corrective action requests as needed.

Ensure all documents are traceable and meet client and regulatory requirements.

Coordination and Communication:

Work closely with construction teams, welders, NDT technicians, and project engineers to ensure quality standards are met.

Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies and regulatory authorities for approvals and certifications.

Participate in regular progress and quality review meetings.

Problem-Solving:

Identify, report, and recommend corrective actions for any quality or safety issues.

Address non-conformities and ensure proper rectification and re-inspection.

Conduct root cause analysis for repeated quality issues and propose preventive measures.

Safety and Standards:

Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and practices during inspection activities.

Promote the use of proper PPE during welding, NDT, and piping inspections.

Conduct risk assessments and ensure all inspection activities are performed safely.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education and Experience:

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 5–7 years of experience as a QC Inspector in piping, welding, and NDT, preferably in water treatment plants or similar industries.

Technical Expertise:

Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, etc.) and piping materials.

Familiarity with international codes and standards (ASME Sec IX, API 1104, AWS D1.1, etc.).

Proficiency in interpreting isometric drawings, P&IDs, and material specifications.

Skills and Certifications:

Certifications in NDT methods (Level II in RT, UT, MT, PT) are mandatory.

Welding Inspector certifications (e.g., CSWIP, AWS-CWI) are highly preferred.

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Proficient in using inspection tools such as ultrasonic thickness gauges, boroscopes, and hardness testers.

Soft Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Effective teamwork and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Working Conditions:

On-site presence at the water treatment plant is mandatory.

Exposure to varying weather conditions and industrial environments.

Adherence to strict safety protocols and PPE requirements.
